Here in Marietta, we live in a town that's rich with history...some of which might be unknown to even some of our longtime residents! Now that school's out and the kids are home, why not pry them away from movies and video games and take them out to appreciate some of what Marietta's all about? 

-- The Historic Marietta Trolley Company takes you through our city's most historic areas, complete with narration from a guide. See historic antebellum homes, our vibrant Downtown Square district and the Kennesaw battlefields on this hour-long tour. 

-- Go fast & low at the Andretti Karting Center! Along with an indoor kart track, there's a SIM center, an interactive 7D movie experience, food and drink, video games, bowling and much, much more. The centerpiece, though, is the kart experience -- these state-of-the-art karts can hit speeds of 35 mph for pulse-pounding excitement for the whole family. 

-- On the first Friday of each month, from March to November, local merchants host the Marietta Art Walk around Marietta Square. It's live music, performances, and local art, from 5 to 9 p.m. Have a stroll and see what our creative community has been up to! 

-- Take in some live music at Glover Park's Concert Series and enjoy beach music, Motown, big-band or 80s party tunes. The concert series is free and you can reserve a picnic table in advance or bring lawn chairs and blankets. 

-- For the grownups, there's men's basketball leagues or coed volleyball at Custer Park Sports & Fitness Center's Adult Athletic Leagues. It's a great way to stay in shape and make some new friends! 

-- Dig deep into our town's history with a visit to the Root House and Museum. The Root House was built in 1845 by William and Hannah Root; Mr. Root was the area's first druggist, and the carefully-restored house gives you a glimpse of what middle-class life was like in pre-Civil War Marietta.
